Reiki, Energy Healing & Sound Healing
An hour of genuine stillness and care, offered by a licensed therapist and Reiki Master who is also a spiritual person. A complete practice in its own right — and, when it fits your goals, a support that can be woven into counseling. Standalone sessions are $75.
Quick answer
Reiki in Virginia Beach at Inner Peace Counseling is a $75, roughly hour-long standalone session where you remain fully clothed and rest while light hand placements — and optional singing bowls or tuning forks — help your nervous system settle. It is offered by a licensed therapist (LMFT, LCSW) who is also a Reiki Master. Reiki stands on its own as a complementary wellness and spiritual practice; as a standalone service it is not covered by insurance. It can also be integrated into psychotherapy when clinically appropriate and aligned with your treatment goals, in which case it is billed as part of that counseling session and is covered by your insurance or private pay counseling rate.
Reiki is not a substitute for therapy or medical care.
Reiki comes to us through a spiritual lineage that began in Japan in the 1920s. Within that tradition, the practitioner is a conduit for universal life energy, and the session is understood as care offered at the level of spirit as much as body. Many people experience it that way, and I don't ask anyone to translate their experience into other language.
Clinical research asks a narrower question, and gives a narrower answer. Studies on Reiki are small and hard to blind. What they do consistently find is that people report meaningfully less anxiety, stress, and pain afterward — while the energetic mechanism itself hasn't been demonstrated one way or the other. That's an open question, not a closed one.
I'm a licensed clinician, a Reiki Master, and a spiritual person, and I don't experience those as being in conflict. Holding both lenses means I can offer this practice with reverence and be straightforward about what I can and can't promise clinically.
What the dual training adds in practice: I pace the session to your nervous system, and I notice when stillness stops being restful and starts being activating. For people carrying anxiety or trauma, having a therapist in the room for that matters.
What a Session Looks Like
You lie down or sit comfortably. Hands are placed lightly on or just above the body — shoulders, head, along the torso. Nothing invasive, nothing you have to do.
Singing bowls and tuning forks are available if you'd like them. Many people find the sustained tones easier to settle into than silence.
Most of that is quiet rest. We talk briefly beforehand about what you're carrying, and afterward about what you noticed — without forcing an interpretation.
As a licensed therapist (LMFT, LCSW), Reiki Master, and a spiritual person myself, I pace the session to your nervous system — and I'll say plainly when therapy is the better fit for what you're carrying.

Hands-on Reiki and sound healing are offered in person in Virginia Beach, with clients traveling from Norfolk, Chesapeake, Portsmouth, Suffolk, and Newport News. Many are military families, veterans, first responders, and healthcare workers who need somewhere to stop being useful for an hour. Guided mindfulness and sound-based practices are also available by telehealth anywhere in Virginia.
If you'd rather start with talking, mindfulness-based therapy and anxiety therapy are the more common front door — and Reiki can be added later.
And if Reiki is what you came for on its own, that's a complete reason to book. It doesn't have to lead anywhere else.
